1. About TaxSnap

TaxSnap ("the app") is a personal tool that helps you capture receipts, log work-related travel, and organise expenses so you can share them with your accountant. TaxSnap is not a registered tax agent, accountant, or financial adviser and does not lodge tax returns on your behalf.

2. Information we collect

• Your email address, display name, and authentication details.
• Receipts you upload — including photos, PDFs, extracted merchant, date, amount, and category.
• Mileage / travel log entries you add.
• Subscription and payment status (payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store card numbers).

3. How we use your information

Your data is used solely to operate the app for you: storing your receipts, categorising expenses, generating summaries, and managing your subscription. We do not sell your data to third parties.

4. Storage & security

Data is stored using industry-standard cloud infrastructure with row-level security so that only you can access your own records. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no online service can guarantee absolute security.

5. Disclaimer of liability — please read carefully

You use TaxSnap entirely at your own risk. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer and operator of TaxSnap accepts no liability whatsoever for:

• Any financial loss, tax penalty, interest, fine, audit outcome, or missed deduction arising from your use of the app or reliance on any figure, category, summary, export, or estimate it produces.
• Any errors or omissions in OCR (text extraction from receipts), automatic categorisation, currency conversion, or tax calculations.
• Loss, corruption, deletion, or unavailability of any data you upload — including receipts, receipt photos, PDFs, mileage logs, and historical records — whether caused by technical failure, service outage, account termination, third-party providers, or any other cause.
• Any decision made by you, your accountant, your tax authority, or any other party based on information stored in or produced by the app.
• Downtime, service interruption, changes to features, or discontinuation of the app.

TaxSnap does not provide tax, legal, or financial advice. You are solely responsible for verifying all information with a qualified professional (such as a registered tax agent or accountant) before lodging a tax return or making any financial decision. You are also solely responsible for keeping your own independent backups of any receipts or records you consider important.

6. Your responsibilities

• Keep your password confidential and your account secure.
• Only upload receipts and information that belong to you or that you are authorised to store.
• Keep your own copies of receipts and records for the retention period required by your tax authority.

7. Deleting your account

You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting the administrator via the in-app Support page.

8. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
